CHARLESTON, Ill. – The Belmont men's tennis team earned their second conference victory as they defeated Eastern Illinois 4-3 in an OVC match held Friday afternoon in Charleston, Illinois.
The Bruins took the early 1-0 lead as they won two of the three doubles matches. At the second position, freshman Zak Khan and sophomore Caio Niel beat Ryan Henderson and Ognjen Jevtic 6-2. While at number three, junior Bruno Russo and freshman Adam Rudowski defeated Trent Reinman and Greg Reiman 6-1. The match at number was unfinished.
In singles, the Panthers battled back winning matches at positions two, three and five. However, Belmont posted victories at one, four, and six to clinch the 4-3 road victory. At one, junior Cedric Dujacquier beat Ryan Henderson 6-2, 6-4. Khan won at number four over Rui Silva 2-6, 6-3, and 6-3. Then at six, Bruno Russo swept Jevtic 6-3, 6-1.
The men's tennis team (6-8, 2-3) is back in action on Saturday as they play at SIUE at 5:30pm.
