NASHVILLE, Tenn. – In their season finale, the Belmont women's tennis defeated Southeast Missouri 6-1 in an OVC match played Saturday morning at Centennial Sportsplex in Nashville.
Belmont took the early 1-0 lead as they captured the doubles point. After winning by default at number three, the duo of juniors Abbie Mather and Laura Van Eeckhoudt clinched the first point with a 6-0 victory over Mila Majtan and Ana Torres. The match at number one was unfinished.
In singles, the Bruins posted wins in five of six matches to clinch their first OVC win of the season. At number one, junior Lindsey Whitehead defeated Isabella Krupa 6-4, 6-1. Van Eeckhoudt won at number two over Majtan 6-3, 6-4. At three, junior Kendall Warren outlasted Annisa Warasanti in three sets: 6-2, 3-6, and 10-7. Then at five, Mather beat Ana Torres 6-3, 6-2. Senior Ann Lauren Fiepke won by default at number six.
This match ends the 2016 spring season for the women's tennis team. They finish with a record of 3-15, 1-9 in the OVC.
