NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Belmont men's tennis team fell to Eastern Kentucky 4-1 in an OVC Tournament semifinal held Saturday morning at Nashville's Centennial Sportsplex.
Belmont took the early 1-0 lead as the captured the doubles point. At number one, the duo of senior Robin Demasse and junior Cedric Dujacquier beat Alex Alvaro and Sebastian Mueller 6-2. Then at three, freshman Adam Rudowski and junior Bruno Russo defeated Guillem Sachis and Diego Asis 6-2. The match at number was unfinished.
In singles, the Colonels stormed back and posted wins at positions one, three, five, and six to clinch the 4-1 match victory. At one, Ramon van Flymen beat Dujacquier 6-4, 6-0. Sanchis defeated freshman Zak Khan at number four in three sets: 6-2, 2-6, and 6-3. At number five, Diogo Soares swept sophomore Stephen Goldman 6-4, 6-4, while at six, Florian Graskamp outlasted Russo in three sets: 6-3, 2-6, and 6-0.
This match ends the season for the men's tennis team. They finished the 2016 campaign with a record of 10-11, 5-4 in the OVC.
