Tough Start

CHARLESTON, W.Va. – The Belmont men's golf team stands in 13th place after day one of the Joe Feaganes/Marshall Invitational held Monday at the Berry Hills Country Club in Charleston, West Virginia.

Belmont carded rounds of 301 and 294 on day one to finish the day in 13th place at 595.  Eastern Kentucky has the team lead at 552, with Virginia Tech second at 554, and Dayton in third place at 564.

Sophomore Daniel Booker leads the way for the Bruins.  He is tied for 21st place at 142, 11 shots behind individual leader, Sarit Suwanannarut of Virginia Tech (131).  The Dyersburg, Tennessee native shot rounds of 72 and 70 on day one.

Freshman McCullough Pickens is in 50th place at 149.  He carded rounds of 76 and 73 on his first day of collegiate golf.

Other Belmont scores after 36 holes of play included: junior Noah Trenkler (T-61, 151), junior Logan Matthews and freshman Nate Thomson (T-73, 154).

Sophomore Parker Buck competed as an individual and is tied for 72nd place at 153.
