Another Tough Start

CORDOVA, Tenn. – The Belmont men's golf team is tied for 11th place after day one of the Memphis Intercollegiate held Monday at Colonial Country Club in Cordova, Tennessee.

Under wet and windy conditions, the Bruins posted rounds of 316 and 301 to finish the day tied for 11th place with Western Kentucky at 621.  Central Arkansas leads the tournament at 600, with Lipscomb in second at 601 and host Memphis in third at 604.

Leading the way for Belmont is sophomore Daniel Booker.  The Dyersburg, Tennessee native carded rounds of 78 and 76 to finish the day tied for 22nd place at 154.  He is 11 shots behind individual leader, Alvaro Carol Estrems of Central Arkansas.  Freshman Nate Thomson, in his second collegiate event, is one shot back of Booker and in a tie for 37th place at 155.  He posted rounds of 81 and 74 on Monday.

Other Belmont scores from Monday's play included: junior Noah Trenkler (T-47, 157), junior Logan Matthews (T-52, 158), and sophomore Parker Buck (T-65, 162).

The third and final round will begin Tuesday morning at 8:00am.  Belmont will tee off from the 10th tee from 8:00-8:36am.
