NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- Belmont Men's Tennis was toppled in the annual Battle of the Boulevard duel with Lipscomb on Friday night. The Bisons pulled off a 5-2 upset of the Bruins (4-3), handing the team its second consecutive loss.
The Bruins won the doubles point but struggled to maintain momentum in singles action. BU was only able to earn a win at No. 6, thanks to Bruno Russo's (Sao Paulo, Brazil) 8-6 victory.
"Congrats to Lipscomb on the win," said Head Coach Mauricio Antun. "They were the better team today.
"We started off pretty well in doubles and singles, but they just managed to turn the match around into their favor. We had too many ups and downs, and they were more consistent than us towards the end of the match."
BU will return to action on Friday, February 17 on the road at Southern Illinois.
