BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Belmont men's tennis team fell to Samford 4-2 in a non-conference match held Saturday in Birmingham, Alabama.
The Bruins earned the first point of the match as they captured two of the three doubles matches. At position one, senior Cedric Dujacquier and freshman Hendrik Inno beat Jake Faundez and Eduardo Lourido 6-0. Then at three, freshmen Vincent Sterkens and Josiah Collins defeated Curran Verma and Hugo Moreira 6-2. The match at position two was unfinished.
In singles, Samford stormed back and earned wins at the top four positions to clinch the victory over Belmont. The lone Bruin win came at number five as junior Stephen Goldman outlasted Verma 2-6, 7-6, 6-2. The match at number six was unfinished.
The men's tennis team (5-6) is back in action on March 5th as they play at Stetson.
