NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- Despite pulling off a win at No. 1 in doubles action, Belmont Women's Tennis was unable to use that momentum to carry it to victory on Saturday. The Bruins (2-9) fell to visiting Ball State (9-2) at Centennial Sportsplex.
The senior duo of Lindsey Whitehead (St. Louis, Mo.) and Kendall Warren (New Braunfels, Texas) won 6-1 at No. 1 while seniors Laura Kent (Kangaroo Valley, Australia) and Laura van Eeckhoudt (Overijse, Belgium) battled deep before falling, 7-5, at No. 2.
With the doubles point under their belt, Ball State continued to roll. Belmont picked up a win at No. 2 singles, thanks to Whitehead's 6-4, 3-6, 10-5, win.
Belmont returns to action on Friday, March 17, hosting Murray State to open OVC play. Match time is set for 2 p.m. at Centennial Sportsplex.
