CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. – The Belmont women's tennis team fell to host Chattanooga 5-2 in a non-conference match played Friday afternoon in Chattanooga.
The Mocs picked up the first point of the match as they posted wins at the #2 and #2 positions. The match at number one was halted since the doubles point had been clinched.
In singles, Chattanooga won four of the six matches to clinch the match victories over the Bruins. Belmont did get two wins at positions two and five. At number two, freshman and Chattanooga native Drew Hawkins earned a three set victory over Caroline Hall 7-5, 2-6, 1-0 (10-5). While at number five, fellow freshman Terra Sheldon outlasted Tamri Chalaganidze in three sets 7-6, 5-7, 1-0 (11-9).
The women's tennis team will be back in action this Friday, January 26 as they play at Samford to start a weekend road trip to Alabama.
