BIRMINGHAM, Ala.- The Belmont women's tennis team (0-3) fell to Samford 6-1 in a road match played Friday in Birmingham, Alabama.
In doubles, Samford swept all three positions to take the early 1-0 lead.
Then in singles, the Bulldogs earned wins in five of six positions to clinch the 6-1 victory over the Bruins.
BU's lone win came at the number two position as freshman Drew Hawkins (Chattanooga, Tenn.) brought home her second consecutive win as she beat Roos van der Zwann 6-1, 6-4.
The women's tennis team will be back in action tomorrow against UAB at 5:00pm at Samford University (Site and time change due to weather).
