Tough Night on the Courts

NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- The Belmont women's tennis team fell to rival Lipscomb 5-1 in a non-conference match played indoors Friday night at the Whitworth Club in Nashville.

In doubles, the Bisons took the doubles point by winning at positions two and three.  Freshman Drew Hawkins (Chattanooga, Tenn) and Erin Allen (Knoxville, Tenn) earned a win at the number one position as they defeated sophomores Kateryna Popova and Denise Buberl 6-0.

Later in singles, Lipscomb continued their solid play by winning four of the five matches to clinch the victory over the Bruins. Belmont's lone point came at number five as freshman Terra Sheldon (Bowling Green, KY) defeated junior Thabile Tshatedi.

Belmont (1-6) will be back in action next Friday, February 16th as they travel to Northern Kentucky.
