NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Belmont women's tennis team saw their win streak snapped as they fell to Detroit Mercy 4-2 Thursday afternoon indoors at Nashboro Village in Nashville.
Belmont picked up the doubles point as they earned wins at positions one and three. At one, freshmen Drew Hawkins and Erin Allen defeated Chelsea and Jasmine Apawti 6-1. Then at three, junior Mical Johnson and freshman Sarah Brackin defeated Sara Mitrakovic and Ksenia Providokhina 6-2.
In singles, the Titans stormed back and posted wins in four of the five matches to clinch the 4-2 match victory. The lone BU win came at number four as freshman Terra Sheldon stretched her win streak to five as she swept Providkhina 6-4 and 6-3.
The women's tennis team (3-8) returns to the court tomorrow as they play at Cumberland (Tenn.). The match is set for 3:00pm outdoors in Lebanon, Tennessee.
