NASHVILLE, Tenn. — In its OVC home opener, the Belmont Men's Tennis (10-10, 5-0 OVC) team won its fifth match in a row on Friday morning, defeating Eastern Kentucky (5-17, 1-3 OVC), 6-1.
BU improved drastically from the previous match in doubles play, winning all of their doubles matches with ease. On court 1, the tandem of sophomoe Hendrik Inno (Tallinn, Estonia) and freshman Marko Ilic (Zagreb, Croatia) defeated Ramon van Flymen and Gabriel Ruiz, 6-2, while senior Stephen Goldman (Lutz, Fla.) and junior Zak Khan (London, United Kingdom) won their match against Parth Aggarwal and Guile Sanchis, 6-3, on court 2.
After that, the Bruins took care of business in singles play as well, winning five of the six singles matches on the day.
Inno improved to 14-5 in singles play after picking up a straight set win over van Flymen, 6-3, 6-3, on court 1.
Ilic cruised early in his match until he lost the second set to Parth Aggarwal. However, he was able to maintain his composure and pull out the win in a relatively close tie-breaker, 10-7.
The Bruins will travel to face off against crosstown rival Tennessee State for their next match on Thursday, April 12 at 10:00 a.m.
