NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Belmont University Volleyball returns to friendly confines of the Curb Event Center to continue the first week of Ohio Valley Conference play. The Bruins (0-13, 0-1 OVC) will face off against SIUE (1-12, 01 OVC) on Saturday afternoon.
The Cougars have had a slow start to the 2018 campaign, picking up one win earlier this month to stand at 1-12 overall and 0-1 in OVC play. SIUE is led in kills by Rachel McDonald, who has tallied 102 while Mallory Nicholson leads in assists with a total of 250. McDonald also leads the team in digs, recording 141, followed by Nicholson and Dylynn Otte, who have contributed 128 and 125, respectively. Hope Everett has rang up eight solo blocks and 35 block assists to lead the Cougars.
SIUE leads the all-time series, 5-2, and have won the last three duels between the programs.
BU will look to post its first conference win of the season this weekend. Senior Maggie Mullins (Nashville, Tenn.) leads the Bruins in kills with a total of 104 followed by sophomore Halee Van Poppel (Argyle, Texas) and freshman Taylor Floyd (Louisville, Ky.), who have contributed 67 and 64, respectively. Freshman Carly Mason (Forsyth, Ill.) leads in assists with a total of 257. Senior Haley Sullivan (Lemont, Ill.) leads in service aces with a total of 10. Sullivan also leads in digs with a total of 110 followed by Mason, who has notched 82.
