NASHVILLE, Tenn. – After a two week break, the Belmont men's golf team returns to competition this Monday and Tuesday at the APSU Intercollegiate held at Greystone Golf Club in Dickson, Tennessee.
The Bruins enter this week's event after finishing seventh at the J.T. Poston Invitational two weeks ago. At that event, the squad closed the tournament with a final round 271 to move up five spots on the final day. Freshman Luke Whitney posted his first top-20 finish of his Belmont career as he tied for 16th place at 208.
Through three events this season, junior Evan Davis leads the team with a 70.3 average and has two top-20 finishes. His 70.3 average ranks second in the OVC. Fellow junior Jack Uselton and Whitney rank second on the team with a 71.7 mark, which puts them among the top-15 in the conference.
This week's APSU Intercollegiate is a two-day, 54-hole event, with 36 holes contested Monday and 18 holes on Tuesday. It will be held at Greystone Golf Club in Dickson, Tennessee, and play to a par 72 and a length of 7,000 yards.
The field includes 11 teams and features eight OVC squads: host Austin Peay, Belmont, Eastern Illinois, Murray State, SIUE, Tennessee State, Tennessee Tech, and UT-Martin.
This is the 16th time in the past 17 years that the Bruins have competed in the APSU Intercollegiate. During that time, they have won three team championships in the last six seasons, and posted a total of nine top-five finishes.
