DICKSON, Tenn. – Led by three golfers among the top-10, the Belmont men's golf team stands in fifth place after day one of the APSU Intercollegiate held Monday at Greystone Golf Club in Dickson, Tennessee.
On a sunny and warm October day that saw a course primed for low scores, the Bruins posted two under par rounds. They carded rounds of 283 and 286 on Monday to finish the day in fifth place at 569. UT-Martin has the team lead at 561, while host Austin Peay is second at 564.
Three Belmont golfers are among the top-10 after 36 holes. Junior Evan Davis continued his solid play this fall as he posted rounds of 68 and 72 to finish the day in a tie for sixth place at 140. The Lexington, Kentucky native had six birdies and just two bogeys during Monday's rounds. He is four shots behind the individual leader, Jack Story of UT-Martin (136).
Fellow juniors Jack Uselton and Bogle LaRue are two shots back of Davis and in a tie for ninth place at 142. Uselton posted rounds of 72 and 70, while LaRue shot 71 in each round.
Freshman Luke Whitney is tied for 30th place at 147 (72-75), while sophomore Coleman Jones is tied for 50th place at 151 (78-73).
Freshman Kohl Kuebler is competing as an individual and is tied for 30th place at 147.
