MADISON, Ill. – The Belmont men's golf team stands in third place after day one of the SIUE/Dolenc Invitational held Monday at Gateway National Golf Links in Madison, Illinois.
During Monday's play, Belmont carded rounds of 287 and 290 for 36-hole mark of 577. They are 14 shots behind tournament leader UT-Martin (563) and one shot back of second place Tennessee Tech (577).
Two Bruins are among the top-10 after the first day of play. Junior Jack Uselton is tied for third place at 138. He posted rounds of 67 and 71 on Monday. Uselton is one shot behind the individual leaders, Jake Vincent of Southern Utah and Tate Chumley of UT-Martin (137).
Fellow junior Evan Davis is tied for ninth place with a two-round score of 141. The Lexington, Kentucky native shot rounds of 71 and 70 on day one.
Other Belmont scores from Monday's play included: freshman Luke Whitney (T-28, 146), sophomore Coleman Jones (T-67, 153), and junior Bogle LaRue (T-86, 157).
Sophomore Jack Bergstrom is competing as an individual and is tied for 86th place at 157.
