Poston Invitational Preview

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Belmont men's golf team returns to competition this Monday and Tuesday at the J.T. Poston Invitational held at the Country Club of Sapphire Valley in Cashiers, North Carolina.

The Bruins enter this week after a successful finish at the Dolenc Invitational last Monday and Tuesday.  At that event, the team finished third and saw junior Evan Davis finish runner-up after falling in a playoff.  For his efforts, Davis was named OVC Golfer of the Week.

Davis leads Belmont with a 70.0 scoring average, which also ranks second in the OVC.  Fellow junior Jack Uselton is right behind with a 71.5 mark, which puts him among the top-20 in the conference.

This week's J.T. Poston Invitational, hosted by Western Carolina, is a two-day, 54-hole tournament, with 36 holes contested on Monday and 18 holes on Tuesday.  It will be held at the Country Club of Sapphire Valley and play to a par 71 and a length of 6,767 yards.

The field features 14 teams and includes the likes of Central Arkansas, Charleston Southern, FGCU, South Carolina, VCU, host Western Carolina, Western Kentucky and three OVC teams: Austin Peay, Belmont, and Morehead State.

Day one play begins on Monday at 8:00am CT.  Live scoring can be found at BelmontBruins.com or Golfstat.com.
