PINEHURST, N. C. – The Belmont men's golf team returns to competition this Friday-Sunday at the Pinehurst Intercollegiate held on the #8 Course in Pinehurst, North Carolina.
The Bruins enter this weekend's tournament after winning the team title at the President's Day Match Play Championship last month in Weston Hills, Florida. At that event, they defeated St. Bonaventure in the first round, Florida Gulf Coast in the semifinals, and Austin Peay in the finals to claim the championship. It was the program's first title since the APSU Intercollegiate in October of 2018.
Belmont is led by a pair of juniors. Evan Davis leads the team and the OVC in scoring with a 69.8 average. He won all three of his matches at the President's Day Match Play Championship and won two individual titles last fall. Jack Uselton is second on the team and 13th in the conference in scoring at 72.2. He also went undefeated at the Match Play Championship and for his efforts, earned OVC Golfer of the Week honors on February 26.
This week's Pinehurst Intercollegiate is a three-day, 54 hole event, with 18 holes contested on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. It will be played on Pinehurst's #8 Course, which will play to a par 71 and a length of 6,937 yards. The field includes 13 teams and features the likes of Davidson, DePaul, Holy Cross, Marshall, and Old Dominion.
