PINEHURST, N.C. – The Belmont men's golf is tied for seventh after round one of the Pinehurst Intercollegiate held Friday at the Pinehurst #8 Course in Pinehurst, North Carolina.
Dealing with rain and strong winds during most of the round, the Bruins carded a team score of 309 on Friday to finish the day tied for seventh place with Drexel. Elon has the team lead at 291, while Radford and Davidson are tied for second at 298.
Two Bruins are among the top-20 after day one. Junior Evan Davis and freshman Alex Whitehead are tied for 19th place after each shot an opening round 76. They are five shots behind the individual leaders, Elon's Graham Hutchison and Max Ferrari, who each carded a 71.
Other Belmont scores from round one included: freshman Luke Whitney (T-27, 78), junior Jack Uselton (T-37, 79), and junior Bogle LaRue (T-37, 79).
Redshirt freshman Jack Bergstrom, competing as an individual, is tied for 37th place at 79.
