NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Belmont women's tennis dropped to the Lipscomb Bisons, 5-2, Saturday evening at Whitworth Racquet Club.
The Bruins (0-2) clinched a pair of singles points but were unable to capture any doubles victories on the night against the Bisons (3-0).
In doubles play, Belmont played a trio of tight matches with Lipscomb, starting with a 6-3 loss to the Bisons from the duo of senior Terra Sheldon and sophomore Taylor Trondson. Junior Lauren Carelli and senior Erin Allen then dropped in a close 6-4 battle in the second doubles position. Lipscomb wrapped up doubles with a close 7-6 (8-6) win at the No. 1 spot over the junior tandem of Somer Henry and Peyton Lee.
In singles competition, Henry logged a three-set victory over ASUN Player of the Week Kate Popova, 6-3, 4-6, 7-5 from the top spot. Meanwhile, senior Sarah Brackin tabbed an 8-7 (7-3) win over Perri Howard in the No. 6 position to cap off singles play for the Bruins.
UP NEXT: Belmont returns to action this Thursday, as it travels to Louisville, Ky. to faceoff with Bellarmine at 2 p.m.
