Box Score Charleston, Ill.-- The Belmont University Women's Soccer team took on Eastern Illinois falling 1-0 in the conference appearance. The Bruins move forward 7-6-1 in the regular season and 4-2 in conference play.
This has been a fantastic run for the Bruins so far in conference. They will only continue to show their perseverance and grit as their final matches of the season approach.
"We showed we will compete until the end that we control the tempo of the game on the attack. We just need to do that for 90 minutes and clean up our final pass." Head Coach Heather Henson on today's match.
Mai Thy Nguyen had the first shot today for the Bruins in the eleventh minute of the match today. The Panthers scored early in the first half, off a corner kick Cam Korhorn was able to get a shot past Leitner. The Bruins finished the first half with six shots and goalkeeper Andrea Leitner recorded one save.
The Bruins remained strong in the second half effectively out shooting the Panthers. The Bruins finished the match with 12 shots to the Panthers six. Avery Nowak, Natalie Haverland, Sydney Cason, Mai Thy Nguyen, and Erin Patterson each tallied two shots against the Panthers defense. Kayla Monis and Claire Fallon both recorded one shot for the Bruins. Defender Claire Fallon recorded her first shot this season today for the Bruins. Today's twelve shots has been the most from the Bruins offense since the Detroit Mercy in early September.
"Rachel and Loren did a solid job today organizing the back line and break EIU front line to start our attack. Keely also had a solid game playing both side of the game"
It was a great effort today on the pitch by all of the Bruins. The Bruins finished today's match with 12 shots, two saves, and three corners. Coach Heather Henson, notorious for keeping her players fresh, had a total of 18 players appear in today's match.
"We are staying focused on trusting the process and taking one game at a time. After 3 games in 6 days and two of them road games, in the midst of midterms. It is important to recover mentally and physically the next couple of days."

The Bruins take on UT Martin in Martin, Tennessee for their seventh conference match of the season. Kickoff is set for 7:00 p.m. The Bruins will host Senior Day October 24, at E.S. Rose Park against SIUE.
