NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- Belmont University Volleyball hits the road for the first time this season with a stop at in-state rival UT Martin. The Bruins have a pair of matches February 14 and 15 in Martin, Tenn.
UT Martin sports a 1-1 record after splitting with Eastern Kentucky to open the 2021 spring campaign. The Skyhawks won their first match, 3-1, on Sunday, but were narrowly held off, 3-2, in the rematch the following day. UTM is led by redshirt junior Logan Wallick, who has tallied 32 kills and boasts a .250 hitting percentage. Sophomore Haeleigh Paulino is the team's leader in assists with 47.
UT-Martin leads the all-time series, 13-10, and has won the last two matches in the series. Belmont's last win in Martin was in 2016.
Belmont remains on the hunt for its first win of the 2021 spring season as it heads into its first weekend on the road. The Bruins are led in kills by freshmen Kristen Clemons (Louisville, Ky.) and Sophia Hagstrom (Dallas, Texas), who recorded 13 and 12, respectively. Junior Carly Mason (Forsyth, Ill.) posted 35 assists over the two matches and logged her first double-double of the season. Freshman Rachel McBride (Decatur, Ind.) led the team in digs with 25, followed by Mason and classmate Ally Peterson (Kenyon, Minn.), who each added 21 over the stretch.
