NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- Belmont University Volleyball hits the road for its longest road stretch of the shortened season, thanks to some make-up matches. The Bruins (0-4) travel to UT Martin (3-1) for a doubleheader on Wednesday.
UT Martin sports a 3-1 record after sweeping Eastern Illinois on Sunday and Monday. Redshirt junior Logan Wallick leads the Skyhawks in kills with a total of 54 and ranks fourth in the OVC in points per set at 4.07. Junior Karen Scanlon leads the team in hitting percentage, coming in at .309. She also ranks second on the team in kills with 43. As a team, UTM ranks first in the OVC in digs with 17.40 per set and fourth in hitting percentage at .221.
The Skyhawks lead the all-time series, 13-10. Belmont's last win in the series came in 2017 at home when they won 3-0.
Belmont inches closer to snagging its first win of the season after strong performances at home against Southeast Missouri State last week. The Bruins are led in kills by sophomore newcomer Laura Shoopman (Salem, Wisc.) and freshman Kristen Clemons (Louisville, Ky.), who have recorded 28 and 25, respectively. Junior Carly Mason (Forsyth, Ill.) has posted 85 assists to lead the team. Freshman Rachel McBride (Decatur, Ind.) led the team in digs, with a total of 62.
