LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Belmont women's tennis tabbed its first victory of the season over the Bellarmine Knights, 5-2, Thursday afternoon at Weber Tennis Complex.
The Bruins (1-2) kicked off the day with a sweep of the doubles competition. Senior Maria Plaksina and sophomore Taylor Trondson tallied a dominant 6-0 win from the No. 2 spot to open the day. The duo of senior Erin Allen and junior Peyton Lee went on to clinch the doubles point in the top spot with a 6-1 victory. Belmont won the third doubles match via forfeit.
In singles, Lee recorded a 6-1, 6-1 win in the No. 1 position, while Allen took down Maja Kozerski of the Knights in straight sets (7-6, 6-3). Bellarmine forfeited its remaining singles matches, as the Bruins registered the 5-2 victory.
UP NEXT: Belmont finishes out the week by hosting East Tennessee State on Saturday at 3 p.m. in Nashville.
