NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Belmont women's tennis logged a convincing 4-1 victory over the Carson-Newman Eagles Saturday afternoon at Hadley Park.
The Bruins (3-4) split their first pair of doubles matches with the Eagles (6-3), as the duo of junior Peyton Lee and senior Nikki Christiansen tabbed a 7-6 victory from the third position to clinch the doubles point for Belmont.
The senior tandem of Drew Hawkins and Terra Sheldon logged the Bruins' other double win from the No. 2 spot by a 6-3 margin.
In singles competition, Belmont dropped its match in the top spot, but swept its remaining matches to record the victory. Hawkins registered a straight-set victory (6-2, 6-4) in the No. 3 position, while Sheldon and Lee both tallied wins in three sets.
UP NEXT: The Bruins return to action on Saturday at Murray State to begin Ohio Valley Conference play. First serve is set for noon at the Bennie Purcell Tennis Courts.
