NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- Belmont University Volleyball returns to the friendly confines of the Curb Event Center this weekend for a pair of matches. The Bruins (1-7, 1-7 OVC) host Jacksonville State (8-0, 8-0 OVC) for contests on Sunday and Monday.
Jacksonville State brings an unblemished mark of 8-0 to Nashville after sweeping a pair of matches at Tennessee Tech last week. Junior outside hitter Lena Kindermann is the top offensive player for the Gamecocks. She ranks in the top-three in the Ohio Valley Conference in three offensive categories: first in kills at 4.46 per set, second in points per set at 4.79, and third in hitting percentage at .381. Senior setter Lexie Libs leads the conference in assists with a 12.00 per set average.
The all-time series between the two schools is tied at 13. JSU has won the last two matches in the series. Belmont last beat JSU in November of 2018 in the Curb Event Center.
Belmont rallied to snag its first win of the season in five sets on the road at Eastern Kentucky. The Bruins are led in kills by freshman Kristen Clemons (Louisville, Ky.) and junior Taylor Floyd (Louisville, Ky.), who have recorded 70 and 63, respectively. Junior Carly Mason (Forsyth, Ill.) has posted 220 assists to lead the team. Freshman Rachel McBride (Decatur, Ind.) leads the team in digs, with a total of 113. She also leads the team in service aces with five. Sophomore Kailee Bass (Aurora, Ill.) has tallied 15 block assists and a pair of solo stops.
Both matches will have live stats available. Monday's contest, with first serve set for 4 p.m., will be broadcast live on ESPN+ and the ESPN app. Fans can also follow the Belmont's Twitter account (@BelmontVB) for live, in-match updates.
