NASHVILLE, Tenn. - The Belmont University men's tennis team won its 11th match of the season, defeating UAB 6-1 on Saturday at the Belmont Tennis Complex.
Diego Castro and Tomas Luis won their eighth doubles match of the season while Arthur Toledo and Jake Briggs won their seventh match of the season, giving Belmont the early 1-0 by claiming the doubles point. After UAB tied the score with a win at the No. 1 singles spot, Belmont answered by claiming five singles points.
Toledo picked up his 12th singles win of the season while Luis claimed his 10th singles win of 2021 with a win at the No. 3 spot. Castro claimed singles win No. 9 on the season, with senior Taisei Miyamoto picking up his eighth singles win of the season and freshman Alfred Wallin picking up singles win No. 9 on the year to give Belmont the victory.
Belmont wraps up the season on Sunday with a road trip to Jacksonville, Ala., taking on Jacksonville State at 10 a.m.
