CHARLESTON, Ill. – Belmont women's tennis tabbed a convincing 4-1 victory over the Eastern Illinois Panthers Friday afternoon at the Darling Courts.
The Bruins (5-6, 2-2 OVC) clinched the doubles point behind a dominant 6-0 victory in the top spot from senior Erin Allen and junior Peyton Lee. The duo of senior Drew Hawkins and junior Somer Henry battled to a 7-6 (7-4) win from the second position to help win the doubles point.
In singles play, Henry recorded a win in straight sets (6-3, 6-1) in the No. 1 position to open the day for Belmont. Senior Terra Sheldon then registered a 6-2, 6-2 victory in the fifth spot, as senior Sarah Brackin secured the win with a 6-3, 6-2 victory in the No. 6 singles spot.
UP NEXT: The Bruins return to action Saturday at noon to faceoff with the SIU Edwardsville Cougars.
