Men's Tennis

Off and Running

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - - Belmont University men's tennis defeated Lee, 6-1, Saturday from Hadley Tennis Center.

The Bruins earned a hard-fought doubles point with victories from the pairings of Arthur Toledo and Jack Randall, and Grant Kelly and Alfred Wallin.

In singles, Belmont was tested, especially at the top half of singles.

After Randall, Taisei Miyamoto and Wallin breezed to straight-set wins, the Bruins were able to close things out in style.

Toledo and Tomas Luis gutted out courageous three-set victories, while Diego Castro was unlucky in tiebreaks.

"It was a tough match today and full credit to Lee," Belmont Director of Tennis Mauricio Antun said. "Lee came out strong and pushed us in many areas. I was happy for our guys to come up with some close wins and for everyone to get their first matches of the season under their belts. It is wonderful to have everyone back on campus and competing again."

Belmont returns to competition Friday, Jan. 28 at Lipscomb.
