Women's Soccer Posts a Draw in Final Regular Season Matchup

The Bruins Tallied their Eighth Shutout of the Season

CEDAR FALLS, Iowa.-- Belmont University Women's Soccer concluded the regular season with a 0-0 draw against the University of Northern Iowa Sunday, October 23. 

The Bruins have clinched the seventh seed in the Missouri Valley Championship tournament with the tournament set to begin on Thursday, October 27. 

Belmont fought hard against the Panthers, but fell just short of collecting a win. The Bruins finished the regular season with a record of 5-5-6, They were 3-4-3 in the MVC. 

The outstanding defense that the Bruins' posses helped them their eighth shutout of the season. Sarah Doyle now sits in the second spot in the Belmont all-time record book with seven to her name in a single season.  The Bruins four match shutout streak in the middle of the season lands the team second in the all-time record book for consecutive shutout matches. 

Belmont's defense faced 12 shots from the Panthers with four on goal. Doyle's four saves add to her season total of 71. 

Both teams struggled to produce up top resulting in a defensive battle in Cedar Falls. 

Up Next: The Bruins will begin their journey into the MVC Tournament set to begin Thursday, October 23 against the University of Northern Iowa in Chicago, Ill.
