NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Belmont women's tennis team was edged by rival Lipscomb 4-3 in a match held Saturday evening at the Hadley Tennis Center in Nashville.
The Bruins (4-3) picked up the first point of the match as they captured two of the three doubles matches. At position two, seniors Somer Henry and Peyton Lee defeated Maddox Bandy and Sasha Dobranos 7-6. Then at number three, freshman Viki Kliimand and junior Taylor Trondson beat Emma Zakordoiec and Eleanor Chapman 6-2.
In singles, the Bisons scored wins at the top three positions and at number six to clinch the 4-3 victory over Belmont. The Bruins picked up two singles wins at positions four and five. At four, Peyton Lee defeated Anja Trbeznik 6-3, 7-5, while at five, Meredith Roberts outlasted Liza Diachenko in three sets: 4-6, 6-4, 10-5.
The women's tennis team is back in action this Friday as they host Wofford at 2:00pm indoors at the Hadley Tennis Center.
