NASHVILLE, Tenn. - - The Belmont Bruins are getting greedy with points lately! The men's tennis team took all they could and beat the Bellarmine Knights for their third straight 7-0 victory at the Belmont Tennis Center.
Keeping up appearances, the Bruins got started on court three. Senior Taisei Miyamoto and sophomore Alfred Wallin weren't messing around today. They took home the first match of the day: 6-1. That win has given the pair momentum with a three-match win streak together. After that, all we had to do was move up to court two for the next plot development. Facing the best pair Bellarmine had, senior Arthur Toledo and junior Jack Randall could not be denied. By the score of 6-3, victory was grabbed by the winningest duo on Belmont's squad to give them five victories in seven matches.
Point one secured, the Bruins wouldn't stop in singles. Down on court six, Wallin wasn't going to give away much time as he took home back-to-back 6-0 wins to seal point two. Over on court four, Ian Cruz cashed in with some controlled chaos and spread his opponent thin for the two-set win. At number one, Toledo was terrific. After setting the table with his set one win, Toledo toughed it out to finish the two-set triumph and seal the match point.
Elsewhere, Randall gutted out the tiebreaking first set before closing the book in two rounds. Before that, Tomas Luis and Miyamoto made quick work and quietly covered their ground to make this cold day another nive notch in Belmont's belt.
After this win, the Bruins are 6-3 and Bellarmine drops to 4-6. Up next, Dayton will be around next Thursday to face the red-hot Bruins.
