NASHVILLE, Tenn. - - The Belmont Bruins fully stocked the courts en route to a 7-0 win over Tennessee State at Hadley Park.
Facing a TSU team with just five players, the Bruins were spotted the 1-0 advantage early. Already up, BU got their second point in doubles play after seniors Somer Henry and Peyton Lee cruised home to victory over Daniela Koleva and Presley Hall: 6-1.
Entering singles, Belmont turned on the afterburners. First to finish, Ukrainian freshman Anastasiya Zholdakova got to play early since one court was open during doubles. Playing freshman McKhia McCrary, "Nastya" went wild and shut down the opposition in two sets. Elsewhere, Henry handled her business on court two to wrap up the Belmont victory in their OVC opener.
Joining the fun post-win, freshman Abi Solomon stunned her foe in two sets for her third win in three rounds at Hadley Park this spring. Next up, court one killer Gina Feistel brought home the wonderful two-set takedown of Franka Sindicic. Aftert that, only one player remained. Lee, the BU wins leader, wrapped up the Bruins clean sheet.
Belmont is 8-5 with a 1-0 OVC start. Next Friday at eleven a.m. they will welcome Murray State to their home haven.
