Box Score CONWAY, Ark– Belmont University Softball falls to Central Arkansas 4-1, in the final game of the Adam Brown Memorial Shamrock Classic at Central Arkansas.
The Bruins battled in the first two innings keeping a 0-0 tie game.
Central Arkansas went up in the second scoring three runs off of four hits ultimately leaving two on base, 3-0.
Bottom of the fourth Central Arkansas gained another run, 4-0.
Top of the fifth the Bruins got on the board, 4-1. Emily Cockrill started the inning off with a single. Lauren Veltri reached first on a Central Arkansas error. Cheyenne Cavanaugh followed with a single through the right side. Bases loaded Ensio singled to left field, bringing in Emily Cockrill, 4-1.
The Bruins fought hard all weekend in the Adam Brown Memorial Shamrock Classic going 2-2. Belmont defeated The University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff in both competitions and lost to Central Arkansas in both.
In this matchup the Bruins recorded, 1 run, 5 hits, and 1 RBI.
All in all, the Bruins are looking particularly strong heading into their own invitational, The Bruin Classic. Belmont will face Dayton, Akron, and Bradley at their home field, E.S. Rose Park this upcoming weekend.
