ST. LOUIS – Following another outstanding week on the pitch and his first career brace, Belmont University men's soccer's
Jansen Wilson has been named Missouri Valley Conference Offensive Player of the Week. Announced by the conference office Tuesday afternoon, Wilson was also tabbed Tennessee Sports Writers Association (TSWA) Men's Soccer Player of the Week.

For his efforts last Friday night at Bradley University, Wilson was recognized Tuesday morning by both
College Soccer News and
Top Drawer Soccer. The graduate midfielder landed a spot on both media outlet's national team of the week.

Wilson led the Bruins to their first-ever win against the Braves at Shea Stadium in Peoria, Illinois, over the weekend. He scored in the 23rd minute on a cross and again in the 54th minute off a set piece feed from senior midfielder
Michael Saunders, giving Belmont a 3-1 lead it would not relinquish.

Wilson's brace Friday was the first by a Bruin since graduate forward
Case Cox registered a hat trick on Oct. 1 of last year in a 3-3 home draw with the University of Illinois Chicago. Notching his third and fourth goals of the season, Wilson is now tied for the team lead. He leads Belmont in both assists (5) and points (13) this fall.

Last Tuesday, sophomore defender
Dylan Steely was also selected to the
Top Drawer Soccer Team of the Week.

Sophomore forward
Brock Kiper, who Wilson is tied with in goals scored this year, picked up the first MVC Offensive Player of the Week award of the season on Aug. 29 and was likewise named TSWA Player of the Week.

The Bruins head down Belmont Boulevard Tuesday night for the 26th Battle of the Boulevard versus nearby rival Lipscomb. Kickoff of the marquee non-conference matchup is slated for 7 p.m. from the Lipscomb Soccer Complex in Nashville.
