VALPARAISO, Ind. - - Belmont University women's soccer (3-7-7, 2-2-5 MVC) finished their Midwest road trip Sunday, with a conference matchup with Valparaiso (6-4-6, 2-2-4 MVC). Despite the periodic rain and windy conditions at Brown Field, the Bruins played one of their best matches of the season. Belmont found the back of the goal twice for the first time this season, and held the Beacons scoreless, to pick up a huge conference road victory.
Scoring Action
Belmont pressed Valparaiso from the start, leading to several early scoring chances. In the 24
th minute, Belmont almost had their first goal of the match off a corner kick.
Avery Nowak placed a beautiful ball in from the corner flag, but a foul was called on
Anna Sweeney.
Despite the early disappointment, the Bruins found the back of the goal a few minutes later.
Olivia Walker served a ball in from 12 yards away on the far tough line to
Natalie Haverland in the penalty box.
Maci Pekmezian played the ball from Haverland, and drilled the bottom-left corner of the net. Belmont led in the 33
rd minute, 1-0. Pekmezian recorded her fifth goal of the season and third of MVC play.
The scoring didn't stop for Belmont in the first half. The Bruins scored in the 37

Loren House.
Avery Nowak served a free kick into the 18-yard box, which House used her right foot to knock it in off the bounce. The Bruins led 2-0 going into the halftime break.
Career Accomplishments
Avery Nowak became the new all-time leader in career starts with her 77
th career start today.
Graduate students
Loren House and
Sarah Doyle wrote their names in the record books with career milestones. House's 17
th full-match performance brings her career-minute total at Belmont to 5,219, which ranks ninth all-time in program history.
Doyle picked up her 17
th career shutout behind her seven-save performance, to tie the program record.

- Maci Pekmezian scored her fifth goal of the season and third of conference play.
- Olivia Walker and Natalie Haverland record their first point of the season, with assists on Pekmezian's goal.
- Loren House scored her first goal of the season. It was House's first goal and points since Oct. 14, 2021.
- Avery Nowak continues to lead the team in assists with four on the season.
- This was the first time since Oct. 15, 2022, Belmont has scored two goals in a match.
- Belmont moves up to fifth in the MVC standings with one week in the regular season.
