CARY, N.C. – Belmont University women's tennis' top doubles tandem of sophomore

Anastasiya Zholdakova went 1-1 over the weekend at the 2023 Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) All-American Championships in Cary, North Carolina.

After receiving one of two ITA wild card entries into the 32-team pre-qualifying doubles draw, Hlahola and Zholdakova faced USC's Grace Piper and Parker Fry in the opening round at Cary Tennis Park. The duo was unable to get past Piper and Fry in the first-round match, ultimately falling 8-6.

In the consolation bracket round of 16, Hlahola and Zholdakova notched their first ITA All-American Championships win with an 8-5 victory over Louisiana Tech's Olga Bienzobas and Alexia Romero.

The pair, along with the rest of the Bruins, will turn their attention to the Missouri Valley Conference Individual Championships this weekend in Springfield, Missouri. Hosted by Missouri State at the Cooper Tennis Complex, doubles and singles play will begin Friday and conclude Sunday with the finals.

Since 1983, the ITA Women's All-American Championships have featured the nation's top NCAA Division I players and have been a pioneer in women's college tennis. In addition, the event has created milestones that have directly influenced the popularity of women's collegiate tennis over the years.
