NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Belmont University Volleyball Program (11-14, 5-6 MVC) took on Drake (16-7, 9-2 MVC) where the Bulldogs swept the Bruins.
How it Happened
Set one was a point for point battle to start.
Brooke Gilleland and
Emily Warmenhoven recorded two kills each as the Bruins tied it up at 9-9. The Bulldogs went on to reclaim the lead and push to take set one 15-25.
Drake came out strong in set two and raced to an early 3-10 lead. With a kill from
Alex Williams, Belmont worked their way back in the set at 10-12. Despite the Bruins' early comeback, the Bulldogs regained control to take set two 15-25.
Belmont had the hot start in set three.
Izzy Schauer served up an ace to put the Bruins up 8-3. Both teams continued to battle until Drake's Thea Rotto put the ball away to even the score at 10 all. Warmenhoven continued to swing big and helped the Bruins reclaim the lead at 13-12. Drake later put together a 7-0 run to take back control of the set. The Bulldogs took set three and the match 18-25.

The Bruins will travel to Valparaiso and University of Illinois Chicago for another weekend of conference play. Belmont will face Valparaiso Friday at 6 p.m. CT before traveling to UIC on Saturday at 5 p.m. CT. Both matches will be streamed on ESPN+ and live stats can be found on belmontbruins.com.
