Softball is Set to Host their Home Opener Against Indiana

Belmont Holds a 13-8 Record Moving into the Week

NASHVILLE, Tenn.-- Belmont University Softball is set to host their home opener against Indiana Tuesday, March 13 at E.S. Rose Park. The Bruins return home for their first matchup since May 1, 2022. 

Belmont now holds a 13-8 record after the weekend to face Indiana with a 14-9 record on the season. 

What's Bruin
  • Belmont went 2-2 at the Governors Classic with a successful Saturday and competitive Sunday 
  • The Bruins posted 31 hits, 18 runs, with 3 doubles on the weekend 
  • Abi Ledbetter sent out the first triple of the season for Belmont
  • Belmont defeated both Dayton (9-4) and Austin Peay (2-0) on Saturday
  • Against the Flyers Maya Johnson posted her career high 17 strikeouts for her eighth win of the season
  • The Bruins went into extra innings with the Flyers where they produced six runs on four hits to secure the 9-4 win 
  • Belmont fell in the last two competitive contests of the weekend to Dayton 5-4 and Austin Peay 5-3.

  • Kern posts a .364 average with 20 hits and 20 runs on the season 
  • Kinsey Mitchell is hitting .410 after the first couple weeks of competition
  • Brianna Copeland is 6-0 after appearing in 15 games with 58 strikeouts and a 1.87 ERA
New Era
  • Belmont is entering their first year in the MVC after over a decade in the Ohio Valley Conference
  • Belmont joins UIC and Murray State as MVC newcomers. 
  • The Bruins have been voted sixth in the MVC preseason poll, receiving one first place vote and 67 voting points from the league coaches
  • Valparaiso was picked as the preseason favorite
  • Belmont will compete against Indiana State, Murray State, Southern Illinois, UIC, Illinois State, Missouri State, Valparaiso, Evansville, Drake, and Northern Iowa in the MVC
