NASHVILLE, Tenn. - - Belmont University men's tennis returns to competition this week, Thursday vs. Dartmouth and Saturday at Samford.
Belmont (7-5) dropped a 6-1 decision Saturday at No. 18 Mississippi State after sweeping Richmond the day prior.
Alfred Wallin was named Horizon League Men's Tennis Singles Player of the Week Wednesday after defeating Mississippi State's nationally-ranked Carles Hernandez.
He became the fifth Bruin to earn Horizon League weekly honors this year.
Wallin has 19 victories between singles and doubles combined.
The Bruins have showcased depth and consistency in doubles, with two victories over nationally-ranked Ole Miss and strong performances vs. Mississippi State, Louisville and Vanderbilt.
Dartmouth (10-4) most recently dropped a 4-3 decision vs. No. 60 Penn State.
The Big Green are one of six Ivy League programs with eight or more team victories.
A Feb. 4 victory at Purdue highlights the Dartmouth non-conference schedule.
Carlos Guerrero Alvarez has posted an 8-5 record at No. 1 singles.
Meanwhile, Samford (7-7) features SoCon Men's Tennis Player of the Month Darcy Nicholls.
First serve for Dartmouth is set for 1:30 p.m. Thursday from the Belmont Tennis Complex.
First serve at Samford is set for 2 p.m. Saturday from Courington Tennis Pavillion.
