Men's Golf Wins the TSU Big Blue Intercollegiate

Three Bruins finish among the top-12, led by Jack Schoenberger's third place finish.

OLD HICKORY, Tenn. – The Belmont men's golf team earned their first team championship in over two years as they won the TSU Big Blue Intercollegiate held this week on the President's Reserve Course at Hermitage Golf Course in Old Hickory, Tennessee.

The Bruins posted their lowest 18-hole team score of the season in Tuesday's final round, a 278, to edge fellow MVC foe Evansville by one stroke (843 to 884) and capture the team championship.  It was the program's first team title since winning the Murray State Invitational in April of 2021.  In addition, their 54-hole mark of 843 is the fourth lowest of the Division I era.

Three Belmont golfers finished among the top-12 in this week's event.  Freshman Jack Schoenberger carded a one-under par 70 to finish tied for third at 207.  He finished one shot back of the two medalists: Justin Larue of Longwood and Lindenwood's Renato Filho (206).  It was the Georgia native's third top-10 finish of the season and his sixth top-20 finish.

Junior Reeve Felner had his best week of the season.  He shot a final round 69 to finish in a tie for seventh at 210.  It was his first top-10 finish since the 2022 OVC Championship and his second top-20 showing of the season.

Sophomore Michael Senn continued his solid play by jumping 19 spots on Tuesday and finishing in a tie for 12th place at 212.  He shot a four-under par 67 in Tuesday's final round.  It was the Arkansas native's fourth top-20 finish of the season.

Freshman Conner Brown and graduate student Winston Margaritis each tied for 49th place at 219.  Brown carded a 72 on Tuesday, while Margaritis shot a one-under par 70.

Four Bruins competed as individuals this week.  Junior Patrick Brooks led the way among this foursome, finishing in 68th place at 224.  Senior Coleman Jones was one shot back of Brooks and tied for 69th at 224.  Graduate student Jack Bergstrom placed 73rd at 225, while senior Alex Whitehead tied for 84th at 231.

The men's golf team has not wrapped up its regular season schedule.  They will compete next at he MVC Championship, April 24-26 in Coal Valley, Illinois.
