NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- The Belmont University baseball team fell to Indiana State, 10-2, on Saturday at E.S. Rose Park.Â
Indiana State (21-12, 10-1 MVC) tallied 17 hits and took advantage of four Bruin errors to take the second game of the three-game series ahead of Sunday afternoon's finale.Â
With the result, Belmont (19-17, 5-6 MVC) loses a home conference series for just the second time since 2021. Â
The Bruins have not been swept at home in a conference series since falling in three games to Jacksonville State in 2018 at E.S. Rose Park.Â
A pair of solo home runs from Mason Landers and Brodey Heaton prevented Belmont from being shut out, but the contest was controlled by Indiana State.Â
The Sycamores struck first in the opening inning on a solo home run and put up two runs in the third, one run in the fourth, three runs in the fifth, and one run in the sixth to take an 8-0 lead.Â
After Heaton's home run to left center in the seventh, Indiana State added two more runs in the eighth to lead 10-1.Â
Landers' home run in the ninth inning, his third of the year in the ninth inning and his eighth of the season overall, led off the frame and was deposited over the left field fence.Â
Landers finished 2-for-4 with the home run, and Heaton ended his day 2-for-4 with the home run.Â
The ten runs allowed by the Bruins were the most since giving up 11 to Illinois State on March 26.Â
Caleb Guisewite and Cade Granzow each tossed scoreless innings out of the bullpen.Â
