NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Former Memphis, Tennessee, star Carmyn Harrison has joined the Belmont University women's basketball program, head coach
Bart Brooks announced Monday. Following two years at Atlantic Coast Conference mainstay Georgia Tech, Harrison returns to her home state with two years of eligibility.

The 6-foot-2 forward will provide the Bruins with length and experience in the front court.

Ranked as the No. 10 post player in the country in the 2021 class by ESPN, Harrison saw action in 33 games for the Yellow Jackets. During her time in Atlanta, Harrison scored 22 points and hauled in 40 rebounds while shooting 64 percent from the floor. She also made seven blocks.

As a sophomore at Georgia Tech, Harrison played in 22 of the Yellow Jackets' 30 games and scored four points at North Carolina this past January. In the season opener against Georgia State, Harrison recorded a career-best seven rebounds in a career-high 12 minutes on the court. She played a combined seven minutes against the Bruins last season and snagged a rebound in Belmont's narrow loss to Georgia Tech at the Gulf Coast Showcase in Estero, Florida.

Off the court, Harrison was named to the 2022-23 All-ACC Academic Team after earning a spot on the 2021-22 ACC Academic Honor Roll as a true freshman.

Daily Memphian Player of the Year her senior year at the Hutchison School in Memphis, Harrison was a five-time all-region performer and three-time all-state selection. Playing point guard, Harrison led the Sting to a pair of regional championships and the 2020-21 state title. Named team captain, Harrison participated in the Basketball Coaches Association of Tennessee (BCAT) All-Star Game. A two-sport athlete, Harrison was also a member of the track and field team where she competed in the discus and shot put for three seasons and was a region champion.

Harrison joins incoming freshmen Jailyn Banks (Middle Tennessee Christian School) and Kensley Feltner (Lawrence County HS), who signed their National Letters of Intent (NLI) last November, as the Bruins' newcomers this summer.

Belmont is the only school in the nation to win 20 or more games for eight consecutive seasons in both women's and men's basketball. The Bruins won their sixth regular season conference championship in seven seasons in their first year in the Missouri Valley Conference. Going 23-12 overall and 17-3 against the MVC in 2022-23, Belmont reached its third-straight conference tournament title game before earning its 10th national postseason bid in 11 seasons.
