NASHVILLE-- Belmont University Softball is set to head to their first ever Missouri Valley Conference Championship Tournament to face Bradley University in their first contest.Â
The seventh seeded Bruins will face the tenth seeded Braves in the third game of the conference tournament Wednesday May 10, at 4 p.m. CT. The matchup will be streamed on ESPN+.Â
The Bruins finished the regular season with a 27-23 record while 12-14 in conference play.
In conference, Belmont swept both the University of Illinois Chicago and Bradley while taking the series 2-1 against Southern Illinois. The Bruins also picked up wins against Illinois State, Evansville, Indiana State, and Drake.Â
Over the weekend Belmont swept Bradley 1-0, 4-2, 4-3, during the series.
Summers saw action in all three games during Belmont's series sweep against Bradley. Summers finalized the weekend with a perfect 0.00 ERA, one win, one complete game, one shutout, and two saves, with 10 strikeouts and only one walk.
Eniso went 4-9 in the batter's box to post the team's best .444 average with two runs, one RBI, one stolen base, and four total bases.
Emily Cockrill heads the Bruins after the regular season in batting average (.327), hits (55), doubles (15), total bases (82), and slugging percentage (.488).Â
Brenna Blume leads Belmont in RBI (32) and home runs (6). Nicole Hughes leads in runs (29).Â
The Bruins are looking for their first ever MVC Championship title.Â
