Women’s Soccer Prepares for Match Against Vanderbilt

Bruins Face Commodores Sunday Night

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - - Belmont women's soccer squares off against neighboring Vanderbilt University on Sunday night. The match is scheduled for a 7 p.m. CT kickoff from the Vanderbilt Soccer Complex.

What's Bruin
Belmont has started consecutive seasons with a 1-1-1 record.
Five freshmen have made their collegiate debuts for the Bruins: Laken Whittington, Anna Samuel, Kate Virtel, Lillie Tabor, and Graciella Segundo.
The last time Belmont won a road match was Oct. 2, 2022, against Illinois State, 1-0.
Avery Nowak is tied for first in the MVC with two assists. She has eight in her five-year career.
The Bruins have scored a goal in three consecutive matches for the first time since Oct. 7-14, 2021.
The last time Belmont has scored a goal in their first three games of a season was 2018.
Belmont's 21 shots ranks sixth in the MVC.
Goalkeeper Sarah Doyle's 13 saves ranks fourth in the MVC.
The last time Belmont defeated a power five conference member was Sept. 9, 2017, vs. Illinois, 3-0.
 
Matchup History
Vanderbilt is 2-0 against Belmont all-time. The last meeting in 2009 resulted in a 3-0 Commodore win.
In their first matchup in 2008, the match was settled in double overtime, as Vanderbilt won 1-0.
The Commodores have not allowed a goal against the Bruins.
 
Scouting the Commodores
Vanderbilt comes into Sunday's match 1-0-2 on the season.
Their last matched on Aug. 24 against Kansas finished in a 1-1 draw. Addie Porter scored in the 89th minute.
Four different players have scored goals for Vanderbilt this season.
Vanderbilt's 42 shots on the season is the second highest in the SEC.
Five players were named to the SEC Preseason Watchlist: fifth-year defender Maya Antoine, seniors Abi Brighton and Jada Konte, junior Rachel Deresky, and sophomore Hannah McLaughlin.
