RICHMOND, Ky. – Led by
Reeve Felner's first career individual title, the Belmont men's golf team captured the team championship at the Colonel Shootout held this week in Richmond, Kentucky.
In Friday's final round, the Bruins posted a score of 287 (+7) to take the team title with a 54-hole mark of 837. They finished seven shots ahead of runner-up and host Eastern Kentucky (844) and eight ahead of third place Bellarmine (845).
This is the second team win in the last three tournaments for the Bruins dating back to last spring. BU captured the TSU Big Blue Intercollegiate last April. Overall, this is 18
th team title for the program in the Division I era and 11
th under head coach

Senior
Reeve Felner shot a final round 74 to earn his first career individual title with a 54-hole score of 202. He finished four strokes ahead of runner-up Morgan Tournemire of IUPUI (206).
The Vienna, Virginia native becomes the eighth different Bruin to capture medalist honors in the Division I era and the first since Michael Senn won at the Ernie Denham Classic last April in Louisville. His score of 202 is tied for the sixth lowest in the Division I era.
Three other Bruins finished among the top-20. Sophomore
Jack Schoenberger and junior Michael Senn each tied for 16
th place at 212. Schoenberger posted a 73, while Senn shot a two-under par 68. Sophomore
Conner Brown was two shots back and in a tie for 20
th place at 214.
Freshman
Grey Goff tied for 40
th place at 219.
Four Belmont golfers competed as individuals: graduate student
Jack Bergstrom (T-44, 220), freshman
Jack Darke (T-53, 222), graduate student
Joe Bultman (T-60, 224), and graduate student
Alex Whitehead (T-84, 238).
The men's golf team is back on the links in 10 days as they compete at the Joe Feaganes Marshall Invitational, September 11-12 in Huntington, West Virginia.
