JACKSON, Tenn. – It was a tale of two different rounds on Monday as the Belmont men's golf team is tied for fifth place after 36 holes of Grover Page Classic held at Jackson Country Club in Jackson, Tennessee.
In round one Monday morning, the Bruins carded a four-over par 292 and were stuck in ninth place, but bounced back in the afternoon with an 11-under par 277 and moved up four spots into a tie for fifth place with former OVC rival Tennessee Tech at 569. Host UT-Martin has the team lead at 557, while SIUE is second at 561.
Three Belmont golfers are among the top-20 after two rounds of play. Sophomore
Jack Schoenberger posted round of 71 and 66 on Monday to finish the day in a tie for third place at 137. He is five strokes back of the individual leader, Hampus Wijkstrom of Missouri State, who is at 132. The Georgia native had five birdies, two bogeys, and one double bogey in round one, but responded in the afternoon with seven birdies and just one bogey on his second 18.
Graduate student
Joe Bultman, competing as an individual, is two shots back of Schoenberger and tied for eighth place at 139. He played consistent on day one, shooting a one-under par 71 in round one and a four-under par 68 in the second round.
Senior
Reeve Felner carded a 75 and 68 on Monday to finish the day in a tie for 16
th place at 143.
Junior Michael Senn and freshman
Grey Goff are both tied for 38
th place at 146. Senn posted rounds of 71 and 75, while Goff shot a 76 and 70.
Freshman
Jack Darke carded a pair of 75s on Monday to finish 36 holes in a tie for 54
th place at 150.
Sophomore
Conner Brown, competing as an individual, is tied for 66
th place at 150.
