JACKSON, Tenn. – Paced by sophomore
Jack Schoenberger's runner-up finish, the Belmont men's golf team finished in fifth place at the Grover Page Classic held this week at Jackson Country Club in Jackson, Tennessee.
The Bruins posted a three-under par 285 in Tuesday's final round to remain in fifth place with a 54-hole score of 854. Host UT-Martin won the team title with a score of 841, with Missouri State and SIUE tying for second at 849.
Sophomore
Jack Schoenberger had another outstanding event as he earned a runner-up finish with a three round score of 206. He was four strokes behind the medalist, Hampus Wijkstrom of Missouri State (202). It was his second consecutive top-two finish of the season and fourth top-five finish of his Belmont career.
Three other Belmont golfers finished among the top-25. Senior
Reeve Felner and graduate student
Joe Bultman, competing as an individual, each tied for 22
nd place at 216. Felner carded a 73 on Tuesday, while Bultman shot a 77.
Freshman
Grey Goff posted his second straight top-25 finish as he tied for 25
th place at 217.
Junior Michael Senn tied for 29
th place at 218, while freshman
Jack Darke tied for 46
th place at 222.
Sophomore
Conner Brown, competing as an individual, tied for 41
st at 221 after shooting a one-under par 71 on Tuesday.
The men's golf team is off for a couple weeks before returning to action on October 2-3 at the Red Wolves Intercollegiate in Jonesboro, Arkansas.
