Women’s Soccer Visits Kentucky

Cameron Returns to Alma Mater

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - - Belmont women's soccer (1-3-2) travels to Kentucky (4-0-1) Thursday night for a non-conference match. This will be the first-ever match between the Bruins and Wildcats. The Bruins come into the match off a scoreless draw against Western Kentucky. Thursday's match will be Kentucky's four-match homestand. The Wildcats continued their success in non-conference play with a 1-0 shutout victory over Illinois on Sunday, Sept. 3.
 
Thursday's match holds significant meaning for head coach Kelsey Cameron, as she played for the Wildcats from 2004-07. Cameron was a captain her junior and senior year, 2006 SEC Champion, and named First Team All-SEC in 2007.
 

 
The match will be broadcasted on SEC Network+. Kickoff from the Wendell & Vickie Bell Soccer Complex is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. CT.
 
What's Bruin
  • Thursday's match is the second SEC opponent on Belmont's schedule. The Bruins previously played Vanderbilt on Aug. 26.
  • Goalkeeper Sarah Doyle is two saves away from 200 career saves. Her current total of 198 ranks 7th all-time in program history (37 saves Ali Young '02-'05).
  • Doyle ranks 6th all-time in career shutouts with 12.
  • Anna Sweeney leads the MVC with three assists. He most recent came on Maci Pekmezian's goal against Cleveland State on Sept. 1.
  • Pekmezian leads the team with three points.
  • Avery Nowak is currently tied for 10th all-time in career matches started (69) with Sarah Brandt ('04-'07).
  • The last time Belmont won a road match was Oct. 2, 2022, against Illinois State, 1-0.
  • The last time Belmont defeated a Power Five conference opponent was Sept. 9, 2017, vs. Illinois, 3-0.
 
Scouting the Wildcats
  • Kentucky has shutout their last two opponents, UT Martin and Illinois, with three on the season.
  • Marz Josephson's seven saves against Illinois is the most by an SEC goalkeeper this season.
  • Jordyn Rhodes leads the SEC with six goals and 12 points on the season. Rhodes has scored in all five of Kentucky's matches. She was named SEC Offensive Player of the Week this past Monday.
  • Grace Phillpotts is tied for the most assists in the SEC with three.
  • Opponents have averaged 4.2 shots per game against the Wildcats.
